A day of analogue development: rain, Zenit cameras and a real passion for photography

Rain in the Born, Zenits with Helios lenses, Fomapan 100 pushed to 800 and 90 minutes of development. A report from the introduction to development workshop at Cameras & Films.

On 2 February we ran the introduction to development workshop at Cameras & Films (the former Lomography Embassy Barcelona). It was raining.

The students headed out into the streets of the Born with Zenit cameras fitted with Helios lenses and Fomapan 100. Because the light was poor, we pushed it to ISO 800. Twenty minutes on the street, then back to the lab.

From there on: loading the spiral, mixing the chemistry, developing. Ninety minutes of the complete process.

The point of the workshop was not to make the best photograph in the world that day, but to learn the complete process. And that is exactly what they did.
